This is how it should be done always :-( The original article crashed my news package because it got an 'no space on device 1/0' (ramdisk). You see I have a ramdisk of 420k. Your message came in 1 compressed batch of 92k. Unbatch unpacked it in the ramdisk to a file of 160k. Unbatch then extracted the first (and only) article from this batch in copied it in the ramdisk (2 x 160k). Unbatch then passed this article to inews which again copied it in the ramdisk (inews changes the header). So that would have been 3 x 160k is 480k. Luckily unbatch doesn't remove the original batch anymore when it crashes so I could repair everything by unmounting the ramdisk from /tmp so the news package had the 2 Mb free space of the harddisk for its use.
