Any answers should go to him. Andy Tanenbaum ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Andy! Everybody here at UCLA in CS111 (Operating System) really appreciates your Minix and we are definately having a lot of fun having to be able to act as the ever-powerful root and change the whole OS around. Thanks. In fact, I am so into Minix now I want to take it home and put it on my portable. And that brings me to my questions: 1) I have a Toshiba 3100SX, 2M RAM, 80 Meg Harddisk, 2 unused paritions of 10Megs each (drive e: and f:). I'd like to put Minix 1.2 or 1.5 on e: of f:. My professor in CS111 had once said that Minix disk drivers are hardware specific, so will there be a problem there? And also, my laptop is 386SX, and I know it is backward compatible with 286, but will it also be compatible with minix (which is designed to run on AT's, as far as I know). 2) I tried to post this in comp.os.minix but nobody around seems to know how to post a message. Feel free to post my question in rn. Ivan Chung (ichung@seas.ucla.edu)
