Keywords: SCSI SCSI-2 Seagate Message-ID: <2041@netmbx.UUCP> Date: 4 Mar 91 21:39:44 GMT Distribution: na Organization: netmbx, Berlin, West Germany Lines: 22 Scuzzy netters, I recently purchased a Future Domain MCS-700 Microchannel controller for use in an IBM PS/2 Model 50 (286 chip). This card runs SCSI and SCSI-2 standards. I am interested in the Seagate ST-1096N 84mb 24ms drive. This is a standard SCSI drive. What am I losing by not buying a new SCSI-2 type drive, if anything. I realize that the Model 50 is not a screamer (except when the kids are asleep), but I would like to take advantage of the SCSI-2 performance of the card, if possible. I'm also thinking of the future when SCSI-2 is more common. Would one plain SCSI link on the chain ruin performance for other SCSI-2 items on the same card? If you think that I should go for SCSI-2, what drive would be similar in price and performance with this Seagate? Price is about $350 by mail. Thank you for you opinions in advance ! :^). I'll summarize!
