After using it, I realized _why_ the Mac costs Yes, Workbench 1.3 and earlier leave a lot to be desired, but Workbench 2.0 is at least the equal of any GUI on the market. As to the hard drive speed, surely you jest! Unless someone managed to get a dog-slow HD and controller on the Amiga (Possible, there are some bad ones out there), the Amiga simply flies compare to the Mac's pokey hard drive speeds. With the Quantum and Wren drives I've got on my A3000 I get between 900 and 1000 KBytes per second transfer rates, through the file system. And I've measured 1.9 MEGABYTES/second on a Fujitsu 1.2 GB drive I had on loan. As this line of discussion is going to burst into unrestrained flames, I've set the followup-to comp.sys.amiga.advocacy, is there a similar Mac group? -- Blaine Gardner @ Evans & Sutherland 580 Arapeen Drive, SLC, Utah 84108 blgardne@javelin.sim.es.com or ...dsd.es.com!javelin!blgardne DoD #0046 My other motorcycle is a Quadracer.
