The printing to puts in garbage characters that should be edited out. These characters are easy to see if you are using an editor like the WriteIt! NDA. They occur when the Laserwriter driver (designed for Appletalk) prints information that is supposed to be coming from Appletalk...unfortunately since Appletalk isn't operational (probably) the info is taken at random from the ether resulting in garbage characters in what really should be a straight ascii text file. Before carting that file into Appleworks you should use any one of the many ascii text editing programs to fix that file. A Program such as Egoed, or WriteIt will do fine.
