I know you need v2.0 or higher on the Mac end for AppleShare to work, but I'm not sure about printer sharing though. Also, if I recall correctly, you have to fiddle with the software to allow connection from Apple IIs. I'm not very sure about all this though, since it's been about a year ago when I helped a friend set up a demo Appletalk network with a IIGS, //e, Mac II and an IBM. It was pretty neat, but I forgot most of the details... Anyways, try to get the latest version of the AppleTalk stuff for the Mac. I think it's v2.1 or something...
