They are metal rings with tabs on them. They should be adjusted for centering before the electrical adjustments are done. Remember the yoke has high voltage on it too (not thousands, but hundreds). These must be experimented with, since they don't simply adjust "up-down" or "left-right". They adjust "all-around", and must both be played with together to get the right effect. dave allen, colorado springs
