The main group ceases to exist as such, but becomes a node for the sub-groups. Perhaps something like: comp.sys.handhelds.hp " " " .casio " " " .sharp " " " .psion " " " .whatever (as deemed necessary) " " " .misc (for machines that fit none of the above) And if a certian brand needs futher subdivision, handle it as a sub-group, as in: comp.sys.handhelds.hp.48 " " " .sharp.wizard Comp.sys.handhelds as a postable newsgroup would cease to exist, and traffic from it (non-machine specific) would migrate to c.s.hh.misc.
