Check around. Maybe it's not over your budget. DAK is offering the NEC UltraLite for $699, and its external FDD for $199. Weight of the combination, including battery, would be (4.4 + 1.5) 5.9 pounds and would fit within your price range. The UltraLite comes with a builtin 2400 baud modem and has a V30 processor. The only thing you asked for that I'm not sure it has is a parallel port. -WBE
