I know there are a number of commercial net monitor packages for Mac's now, but have only used one. The one I use is Racal-Interlan's EtherScope. It came with my MacConnect 310 board, so it was a real deal for me. I don't know if it supports other hardware or not. It understands AT Phase 1 and 2 as well as IP and a number of other protocols. You can filter packets based on protocol and/or address. In addition you can assign names to Ethernet addresses and so see traffic on a by name basis. You can construct you're own packets and send them to any address you want. Overall I would give it very good marks for what it does, which is a fair amount more than I have described. Since I paid only $330 (being at a Univ.) for the board and software, I'm pretty pleased. Mike Paisley Paisley@ccvr1.cc.ncsu.edu PAISLEY@NCSUMTE.BITNET
