Here's some info about Empire Builder that the author recently sent me in e-mail over at America Online: (1) The current version is (still) Empire Builder 1.6.1. However, a major new release (version 1.7) is in the final stages of development. (2) Empire Builder must be registered. The full, unrestricted, version is only distributed to people who pay for it. The DEMO version may be freely distributed. The registration fee is U.S. $25.00 ($15.00 for Students). Overseas orders are shipped via surface mail with 6-8 weeks delivery time. Please add $5.00 for international air mail. (3) Registered users get the unrestricted version, which includes the ability to save and restore games, edit the rules and removes some other limitations of the demo version. A 25+ page manual is also sent to everyone who registers. Registered users may order upgrades when new versions are released at $4.00 per disk and $5.00 for a new manual. (4) I try to respond to all letters, but I don't always have enough time. My Internet address is ELIOT@cs.umass.edu. (5) Empire Builder is compatible with any Mac provided there is enough memory. One megabyte is sufficient although more is better. Limited operation may be possible on a 512K machine (I will test this at Christmas Time.) On a 128K mac there isn't a prayer. Large screens, multiple monitors and color are fully supported. In some future release there will be support for playing over a modem or via a network. **** -- ***************************************************************** Bob Nordling | AOL: AFC MacFun GAMER Project | FIDONET: 1:396/13 New Orleans MUG | USENET: nordling@mmug.edgar.mn.org | ...jhereg!tcnet!vware!edgar!mmug!nordling ->via FidoNet: 1:282/22 - SmorgasBoard USENET-FidoNet Gateway<- *****************************************************************
