Well, there's only one solution other than an Apple upgrade. Kennect Technology has a gadget called a Rapport. It supposedly allows one to use 1.44 meg drives on otherwise exluded machines (including 512KE Macs I'm told). This is not a cheap option at something like $250.00 (It could be less). Outside of that, no. Apple's upgrade gets you a SWIM (Super Intergrated Wozniak Machine) chip. I'm no rreally sure that the ROMs, drive and chip is worth that much. Shereve Systems was advertising a Mac II to Mac IIX upgrade for like $800, not including drives. So for around $1000 one can have a faster machine and drive.
