This would probably I BELIEVE (not sure) that if no monitor is connected to the internal video port, no memory is allocated to the frame buffer and the internal video circuitry is disabled, so there would be no contention for system RAM. On the other hand, if you use a video card then you must contend with the 10mhz bottleneck of the NuBus.
