Mike,

I know that the Quantum drives had this problem and on both the 40 and 80 
meg models...I'm not so sure about the Sony drives though.. Tell your 
dealer to look on page 8.7.1 of his Apple Service Program manual.. It 
states that you can get a ROM change to correct the problem (if its a 
quantum). Hope this helps...
