Apple is releasing a new inkjet printer called the Style Writer. It is serial interface, 360 dpi, QuickDraw, and has 13 True Type fonts. It will handle plain paper and envelopes. It is very slow, prints about half a page a minute. Apple will be releasing this in the next few weeks. It is to list for around $699, but my dealer quoted me a price of $500. In contract, the HP Desk Writer (also a laser jet) uses LocalTalk, 300 dpi, has 13 3rd-party fonts, and prints at a faster 1 page per minute final draft. The street price on this printer is about $695, somewhat cheaper through some of the mail order companies. Hope this answers some of your questions.
