Warning: this is a rumor.

Has anybody heard about this?
That is, that Apple was making 286 or 386 version of the Macintosh toolbox.
A friend of mine told me this, but I don't know where he got it.
If that's confirmed, anybody knows what Apple plans?
(Licensing the ROM to clone makers or making new cheap Macs?)
