Sure enough, Aldus Mag-- Volume 1, No. 6 Sept./Oct. 1990 page 46 had this to say: (Paraphrased) Whenever you print with PM, PM checks to see if Aldus Prep has already been downloaded to your printer. If not, PM initializes the printer by downloading Aldus Prep. PM 4.0's prep is fully compatible with version 3.0, but 3.0 is not compatible with 4.0. If your printer contains PM 3.0's Prep, you have to shut off the printer to clear it before printing a 4.0 doc. To eliminate this problem on a network, etc., make sure Aldus Prep 4.0 is the only version available. Hope this helps, Frank E. Bien feb@gumby.dsd.trw.com
