I had the same problem once and a while. It's the Easy Access CDev which
starts of on some curious conditions. Try to remove that (only for handicapted
people usefull) cdev and anything should be all right. 
The next time it starts simply open the control panel and switch it of again.
You can see that if you watch the uppermost right part of the screen, to the 
right of the icon in the menu bar. There appear some icons indicating that
Easy Access works. I don't know why it suddenly starts but it is shurely not a
matter of the communication. 
BTW, does anybody know why they removed that "Brightness" thing that worked
on my fx (and came with 7.0b1) in 7.0b4? (the provided one only works on
portable). Fortunately I kept a copy of it. 
If someone at apple comes to read this: what is the OINK mode in ResEdit 2.1
and how does it get invoked? I just saw the appropriate icons and ALRTs, but
couldn't hack the mode.
