Our lab has recently acquired several SGI workstations, and we are finally making the move from VMS to these new systems. Although I have had some luck in getting some tools working on the SGI, there are still a few things that don't seem to work quite properly. Probably a lot of these questions would be answered in a Frequently Asked Questions posting, but such a beast doesn't seem to exist in this newsgroup. Down to business: I have gotten tcsh to build, as well as Gnumacs and TeX, but I am having problems getting Dirk Grunwalds Xdvi to work (this is the distribution available from foobar.colorado.edu). When I start Xdvi up, it dies with a message saying that Xt_AddFontpath has failed. Some other oddities seem to be that 'xset +fp fontpath' only works from a process running within an xterm - I presume this is a related problem. Presumably, all I need to do is to set my .xSGINeWS.cmd file up properly, but I can't figure out how. As a follow on question, does there exist a list of what GNUish and TeXish software is running on the SGI systems, ie with FTP archive sites available ?. Thanks for your help. Please e-mail to me directly, and I'll try to follow this up with a summary posting that might help other neophyte SGI installations.
