I want to be presented immediately with the X login window when the machine is started up, so, as directed in the X User's Guide. I've put the entry /usr/lib/X11/xdm into the startup command file /etc/rc2. I get the X login window as expected; however, for about 2 seconds, I can see the normal UNIX login prompt displayed on the terminal before it is overwritten bu the X login window. Then, at the end of the session when I logout, the system goes back to what appears to be this UNIX login prompt, instead of representing me with the X login window. I assume it's because of some problem with one of the xdm files. Can anyone help please? Thanks in advance. - Paul
