When moving the cursor from within the command mode, vi sometimes puts itself into insert mode, opens a blank line and inserts one of the letters A, B or C into the blank line! I assure you that this is NOT finger trouble! :-) By the way, is it possible to configure vi? On a secondary note, I've seen some references to xedit. Is this better than vi? Is it easily available? - Paul
