This just in, for any who might be interested.  (The source is very reliable,
trust me, as she's a friend of Gates's.)

Ms. McFadden is expecting.  Rugrat coming, to be born in August.

The TNG staff are not expecting to write in the pregnancy at all--rather, 
they'll be mostly keeping Gates out of the first few shows next season.
