The 8870 is a Touch Tone (tm) decoder chip, made by Mitel, Teltone, SSI, and others. It is not a DTMF transciever (that is, it only receives and decodes DTMF, not generate them). The 8880 is a DTMF transciever. Teltone is at 800-426-3926 or 206-827-9626. If you have difficulty getting through, I can send you a photocopy of the spec sheet Regards, / Jon Sreekanth Assabet Valley Microsystems Fax and PC products 346 Lincoln St #722, Marlboro, MA 01752 508-562-0722 jon_sree@world.std.com
