Well, it's not axactly available by FTP, but IBM's DITTO for VM and VSE has always worked well for me. Just use the TCN (Tape to CoNsole) command. You don't need to tell it anything other than what drive the tape is on. The new DITTO (V3.1.0) is even fully menu-driven (which I personally am not fond of, but it's great for occasional users) and has excellent HELP screens. Hope this helps.
