We are trying to set up a PS/2 as an X server at the end of a phone line.
Our first attempt uses X11/AT under Windows3 on FTP software's PC/TCP and
SL/IP with V.42bis modems running at 9600 baud (ie. 38.4 kbaud max).  
The setup works, but it's not exactly blazingly fast ;-}  The problem
does NOT appear to be the PS/2's ability to keep up at 38.4 or to draw the
windows, etc.  I've tested both of those in isolation.  The modems seem to
be giving us about 15-20 kbaud throughput, and that just doesn't seem to be
enough to give comfortable response without header comperession.

  "Van Jacobson compression" you say.  I agree, but  FTP indicates they 
don't plan to implement it for their slip, and a prior posting didn't turn
up anyone else who had.  Thus the following questions:

  -Does anyone have a slip WITH header compression which runs under
    dos/windows? (OK, how about one that runs under dos/not-windows?)
  -Is there a PPP for dos/windows?  (This is a less desirable solution, as
    we don't have PPP for our "slip-server" yet)
  - Has anyone been able to make VisionWare's XVision X-server run with 
    FTP's slip?  (With XVision you don't need run a window manager, which
    helps alot, but is still only a partial solution)
  -Does anyone have experience with a setup like this?  If so, I'd like to 
    hear from you.
  -Ideas for other X server alternatives?  Require: PS/2, DOS.
    Desire: Windows3.  Serious entries only, please.
