I'm looking for a PD source for "col" so I can modify it
to add an option to treat backspaces differently.

The version I have will allow me to remove leading
<character><backspace> with the -b option, but
what I want is for those lines to be overprinted
on a line by line basis rather than a character-by-character
basis, so I can send it to a printer which treats \r and \n
differently:
[line]\r[overprint portion of line]\r\n

I wrote a similar tool a while ago, but it was lost in a disk crash :-(
Anyway, it seems like it would make more sense to combine it with col.
