In one of the 2 text files incl. with the game, it should say that when
approaching a planet to orbit, you should keep the red cross-hair lined up
between the edge of the planet and the red line surrounding it.  The logic is
simple - you approach the edge of the planet's atmosphere, rather than
dive-bombing the planet's centre!  Hope this helps - have fun!
