I've noticed this problem happening in I guess what you can considered the newer modification to the 1352 mouse or whatever the number is.... well, the one with the steel ball. The contacts on the thing are really bad.... if you've got the mouse with the taped on contacts, peel the tape off and squirt some audio/video type cleaning solution onto the contacts and take a cotton swab and really scrub the thing.... I haven't had problems since... and when it does arise, I just do the procedure again and the mouse works fine... I dunno about CIA chip though... Victor
