I have taken my A500 apart and plan to put the system in a smaller box with a detached keyboard. I figure I can either use the A500's keyboard (but I would need to find or make a case for it) or use my old A1000 keyboard. Both keyboards have +5v, gnd, KBCLOCK, and KBDATA lines. The A500 also has a KBRESET and Disk Access lines, and a couple of other pins I don't understand. Are the KBCLOCK and KBDATA lines of the two compatable? Does a CTRL,AMIGA,AMIGA 3 finger reset work the same way for both machines, or does this 3 key sequence cause the A500's KBRESET line to go active (which the A1000 doesn't have; it instead seems to drive the KCLK line low for the duration). Anyways, if anyone has tried this (successfully, or not) I'd like to hear from you. I don't really want to cook the A500 or the A1000's keyboard by blindly experimenting. -- Tim Cullip cullip@cs.unc.edu
