An alternative to "stty tandem" that works is "/com/tctl -line 1 -insync". But it is not doing me any good since lpd needs to have specific bits set in the fs/fc/xs/xc fields of printcap. These bits correspond to stty masks. How am I going to tell lpd to execute /com/tctl -line 1 -insyc? So pure BSD printing will not work for laser writers since apollos's stty tandem is broken and the laser writers can't do hardware flow control! RF.
