Are all the SCSI drives created equal when it comes to compatability with
software (DOS, UNIX, etc.)?

So if I get an Adaptec SCSI controller, does it matter who's SCSI drive I 
use - Conner, Quantum, etc?

How about speed?  Is SCSI significantly slower/faster than IDE from the
same manufacturer?  Has anybody experience with Quantum drives?
