Most people I know have been very pleased with Gateway.  I know because
I'm one of them.  I just bought a system from them and it was flawless. 
They did send me the wrong monitor, but they were really good about the
whole thing.  I was sent the correct one, and they sent FedEx to my door
when I was ready to send out the old one!  And if you do have problems,
they have excellent tech support as well as ON-SITE warranty (TRW comes
to your apartment if it can't be resolved by their tech-support).
