First of all, the LE is supposed to have a 3 hour battery life, which can be expanded to 5 hours if you buy the optional modem slot battery. Also, I believe you can not use the computer if the battery is not connected (I know the SE will not let you do this). There is no problem with taking the battery pack out when storing, as this will eliminate the battery drain which occurs when the computer is off. With my computer's battery in and fully charged, the battery will completely drain with the computer off in 7 days, but it won't drain if I disconect it (of course you will lose the autoresume stuff). Perhaps Toshiba has made the LE capable of running with only the ac adaptor and not the battery, but I have not heard anything that says it can. Hope this helps.
