If I write a program, and I want it to read a scanner, do I call a driver that the scanner manufacturer installed? If so, what are the driver calls, and are they standardized across scanners? Where are they documented? If I create a piece of hardware that acts as a scanner, and want it to work with standard software, I assume that I want to write a driver that emulates some other manufacturer's driver. Who's is most standard? Thanks in advance. -- David Palmer palmer@gap.cco.caltech.edu ...rutgers!cit-vax!gap.cco.caltech.edu!palmer "Operator, get me the number for 911" --Homer Simpson
