I've  used Syquest drives from Maxcess, PLI, and, err, Ehman I believe, each
with different drivers, and could interchange cartridges freely between all
drives, no matter which drive they were formatted with.  No problem. 

On a negative note, the Maxcess drive, which I've had for about a year now,
has gone flakey. Often it refuses to spin up. It just clicks and the lights
on the front blink. It's still under warranty, but I haven't gotten around to
talking to Maxcess yet.
