Summary: Can fonts be placed on a file server? Keywords: Fonts file server Message-ID: <1991Mar13.160059.4041@hoss.unl.edu> Date: 13 Mar 91 16:00:59 GMT Sender: news@hoss.unl.edu (Network News Administer) Reply-To: mosemann@unl.edu Distribution: na Organization: University of Nebraska - Lincoln Lines: 17 A friend of mine is interested in placing Adobe fonts for his LaserWriter printers on a file server so that everyone would have access to them. (They only have 2 LaserWriters on a self-contained LocalTalk network and they have purchased a license for each of these printers.) I know that people usually have to place these fonts in their system folder, but the users bring their own floppies to start up the Macs and there is not enough room for the system folder the way it is. There supposedly exists something called "Set Path" or a variation which automatically opens the font file(s) so that a resource search will find the fonts. (I could be dreaming.) Does anyone use this or have any more information about such a utility? Thanks. -- Russell Mosemann Internet: mosemann@unl.edu Network Analyst Bitnet: mosemann@unlvax1 Computing Resource Center UUCP: ..!uunet!hoss.unl.edu!mosemann University of Nebraska - Lincoln Voice: (402) 472-5930 Fax: 472-5280
