Under the heading System >Software (included) it says "System Software 7.0" So, what can I say, >Is Apple going to SCREW all new purchasers out of Sys. 7.0 or do I >just bring this poster to my dealer and say where are my disks? I know the poster you're talking about. A four-page foldout entitled, "No matter which one you choose, a Macintosh is still a Macintosh." Right? The list you're talking about is on the back, under the heading "Details, Details, Details." If you look at the item that says "System Software 7.0", you'll see a footnote marker (1). The footnote says: "(1) Will support System Software Version 7.0 when it released. To use Version 7.0, systems will require at least 2 megabytes of RAM and a hard disk. Systems that do not have a PMMU will not be able to use the virtual memory features of Version 7.0" I don't see a single promise to provide System 7.0 and documentation free of charge if it is not available at time of shipping. Between that footnote/disclaimer, and the fact that Apple -will- ship System Software with your Mac (although not the version you want), I don't think that the poster's wording will be much of a tool in forcing Apple to give you 7.0 and docs without charge. Me, I'm pretty much resigned to paying for System 7.0 if I want the docs for it (and I do) - and I'm ordering my Mac this Friday, in all liklihood. -- Jim Gaynor - Systems Analyst 1 + "This is Serious.
