Does anyone know of a utility which strips all TeX formatting out of a
file, leaving just a plain unformatted text file?

I have several programs that have been typeset using TeX which I need to
compile.  Unfortunately, the plain text versions of these are not
available, leaving two unattractive options: either print them and
retype them, or try to strip all the TeX stuff out by hand.
