Message-ID: <1991Mar8.100213.16888@cs.mcgill.ca> Date: 8 Mar 91 10:02:13 GMT Sender: news@cs.mcgill.ca (Netnews Administrator) Organization: SOCS, McGill University, Montreal, Canada Lines: 14 I have a CANON BJ printer but this applies to most dot-matrix printers also. All the drivers I have seen send the entire images in graphics mode. My printer is a 360 dpi and more than 50% of the time, the printer seems to be waiting for the data to get through. But most of the text I print is text (!) and I guess it would be much quicker to download fonts to the printer. I realize that a dvi file is not "linear" (from top to bottom) but it seems possible to isolate some parts of the text that don't have any graphics. Is there a driver that does that?
