What does the following mean from CNEWS?

Did I get some garbled news maybe?  I have been having some trouble getting
a new disk installed, maybe there's some corruption ... or is this a typical
news problem (I haven't seen it before).  Is it like the "inbound news
is garbled" message that Bnews spits out occasionally?

And how about these:

relaynews: can't link to `talk/politics/misc/7541'
relaynews: can't link to `misc/headlines/3633'
relaynews: can't link to `alt/activism/5646'
relaynews: can't link to `alt/desert-storm/10380'

These files already exist, and are owned by news.  There is no reason
given for the "can't link".  What would the typcial reason be ??
