I know that the LaserWriter I use produces very thin Courier, but on the other hand, I am holding the book "The UNIX Progamming Environment" by Kernighan and Pike, which says, "This book was typeset in Times and Courier by the authors,...". Its Courier is definitely not thin at all. Or perhaps the PostScript Courier has trouble properly scaling the stroke thickness at large sizes.
