This is probably best done through what is called "vanity press". That is, the author funds the typesetting and a small initial print run. There are a number of companies that work in this field. I am working toward getting Socrates Press (The Computer Journal) into just this field of publishing technical books of limited run. The drawback, of course, is that the author takes the risk that the book will or will not sell.
