I have found that the Seiko clone PS is actually better at printing complex objects that have a gradient fill, (blending of color from a start color to a finish color). I am not sure why the clone does a better job (in fact QMS & NEC both crap out) unless Seiko is using less than 300 DPI, or maybe they don't 'flatten' like they others. Whatever, I'd recommend that you create as complex a picture as possible and get the salesman to show you a printout!
