Greetings!

I am curious, on the Amiga computer there is a file standard for graphics,
audio and animation.  I am curious as to what standards exist on other
platforms?  

I realize that the IFF standard needs extension, and I would like to
see that addressed as well.

In particular I am interested in the new standards that are in the 
making and the what the current standards are on both the PC, Macs,
Suns and any other interesting computer system.
