You may continue to send or receive DATA packets after sending an INTERRUPT REQUEST, without having to wait for the INTERRUPT CONFIRMATION. A RESET/CLEAR/RESTART clears the "sent interrupt" state - no INTERRUPT CONFIRMATION can be expected. Hope this helps.
