NO MATTER WHAT, Apple's programmers wrote the code in those ROMS. That code is therefore APPLE'S PROPERTY and they can restrict it HOWEVER THEY DAMN WELL PLEASE. Whether it makes business sense to do so is up to Apple to decide. Just because you want something belonging to someone else does not mean they have any obligation to make it available to you under any terms. BTW, Apple is not sueing companies like Commodore and NeXT which have actually innovated in the design of their GUIs. It is Microsoft Windows which is the target, and specifically because of alleged violations of a license agreement signed by Microsoft.
