     A.M.A.S is both a MIDI interface and a stereo sound sampler with 
software all wrapped up in a very "artsy-fartsy" box, the  kitchen sink
model as my friend calls it.
It's pretty good. However, my only complaint it that they (microdeal) 
used really cheap RS-232 connectors with (get this) ribbon cables!
Basically, the connectors are the "snap-on, no solder required" type 
and if pulled too hard while trying to remove it, you may destroy the
connectors and/or the wonderfully thought out... ribbon cable .

Otherwise, it works very well. The MIDI portion is excellent (it has a MIDI
thru!) and the sound sampler section is very, very clean. I think I 
paid $135 about 2 years ago. Pretty good price for two completely different
hardware items...

As for the software, forget it. Or atleast the version I had. I used a couple
different PD sampling software and then purchased AudioMaster II. Which does
the job. My complaint about the software is simple: It GURU's alot. Some of the
gadgets were really not working (some needed to be clicked on and held!?!?!?).
Just a poorly implemented program. I must say that the interface certainly 
looked excellent, atleast they tried. I recommend it, however make sure
you have a good sound sampler software that you like!
