Sci. Dept., Strathclyde Univ., Scotland. Lines: 54 I don't have any firm advice except that I am a firm believer in the "No black magic" principle. It kept my sanity when I was programming the Amiga (spit). You hve started out on the right track. My advice is to take the board out and stick it in your friend's machine, ie if friend's machine with your board works then while it works and not attachments run out do exchange one attachment from your friends machine with own attachment try again end while if attachments ran out then write (" Your having me on ") else write ("The last thing you exchanged is the faulty component") endif else write ("something major wrong with your board") write ("Do you still want a 1040?") read (reply) if reply in ['y','Y'] then if cost second hand < cost new then get a second hand 1040 replace your board for the one out replacement cannibalise the rest for spares keep old board!! else if cost new > prepared to pay then try buying a new replacement board else buy new st endif if not(replacement available) then write ("Sorry use your friends 1040") or get board serviced professionally endif endif else choose new type of machine endif endif hope you get it fixed, Fraser -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Fraser J Simmons | IBM has committies looking into inefficiency University of Strathclyde | at work !!
