Subject:    Error code messages

My model 70 PS/2 gave the error message 10483 on boot up.
The system will not boot from the hard drive or from a floppy.
However, the system reference disk and diagnostics run from
the floppy drive and the diagnostics give a clean bill of health, no problems
reported.
The system gets as far as memory check, checks the floppy drive but fail
prior to prompting for password input.
Does any one have a listing to the PS/2 error codes, or can you suggest
what might be wrong? I phoned IBM this AM but: no service contract - no help.
I got more information about the problem by talking to my cats than to IBM.
