I would like to add to that and relate a little story that might help someone else. After 14 months of perfect operation my Quantum 105 hd (on IIcx) started to continuously seek just after bootup. I could usually get ito stop by bringing up a DA or sometimes with accessing a menu with the mouse. I imagined all sorts of dire things. The drive is dying. It has the "Quantum sticktion problem". I have a virus, etc. Tried rebuilding the desktop. No help. I called APS Tech Service and they told me that it was probably just a Heap problem. Looking at the About Finder display seemed to confirm the possibility. They right away offered to send me a copy of an application called Bootman at no charge which I thought was going the extra mile. Anyhow I found Bootman locally and it fixed the problem. So ...if you have the above problem or ...if you are in the market for a disk give them a call. When I bought mine they were mostly an unknown but now have big ads in the magazines. I am happy to say that they have not allowed their growth to deteriorate their service. -- Ronald K. Long Ohio State Univ EE Dept., 2015 Neil Ave., Columbus, OH 43210 rlong@phonon.eng.ohio-state.edu
